Chaos...the watch-word for sure. Commanders hurried to form units into lines, lines into major formations under the cover of night. Here and there sporadic firing, as regiments bumped into the enemy, trying to shift also under cover of darkness. the dawn would bring many surprises.... > > Midnight, > > As Meade feared the might attack by Sickles and > Doubleday had turned into a disaster.Chaos reined as > units looked for friends in the dark and found alert > enemy pickets.
