Hi Chaps.

2-3 Year ago - I planted 2 Trees at the edge of my lawn. They have the official name of 'Amelanchier's. They are a deciduous tree and relatively rare in Ireland . . being more at home on the European mainland. However, in Ireland where they were planted - it was in small spinneys or copses. And invariably, they came to give areas where they were planted - their name.

In Ireland they are more commonly known as Snowy Mespils. So that's the Background here's the point! [:D]

I have a vague recollection of reading somewhere, that part of a larger ACW Battle was fought thru' the cover of a stand of these trees. I'm durned if I can remember where!!!! [:(]

Anyone any ideas? [;)]

Also - is this a common placename? Amelanchier Road or Mespil Drive etc . . . .

Sometimes my little mind just wanders off by itself . . down strange, rarely trodden avenues!!! [:o)]

Any help in steering it back home to me - with it's curiousity satisfied would be enormously appreciated!!! [8D]

Pat.
