Post subject: LIEUTENANT General Don Golen, front and center!

From: Union Headquarters, Washington DC

To: LT General Don Golen

Subj: Out of Uniform

Sir,

It has come to our attention that you are still wearing the uniform of a Major General. Please get the third star added to your shoulder boards ASAP. See below.

From: Union HQ

To: MG Don Golen

Subj: Promotion to Lieutenant General

The Congress has finally confirmed your promotion. Despite your record of long and faithful service as a past commander of both I Corps and the Army of the Potomac, getting drunk one night, propositioning the daughter of a powerful Senator, and barfing in the Presidents carriage does have it's risks. Thus your promotion was held up for several months, until recent photos showed a certain Moose was the actual offender in the Presidents carriage.

Congrats on your third star!

Sincerely,

Don Golen,
Congrats sir. Every thought how strange it is that we raise a toast for you going from a Major to a Lieutenant (General). Cheers to Lieutenant (General)Golen, might we not meet his on the field and only meet him in the tavern.

Mostly I'm a big mouthed, abrasive jerk. But doggonit Jeff, you've humbled me. Thanks. Bartender, the rest of the drinks are on me for General Laub and all these fine gentlemen. Rebs, the first toast you can politely sit out:
To the Union! Huzzah!
The second is for us all:
To the many officers of the ACWGC! A finer group of gentlemen I've never met! Huzzah!
The third toast is for the officers of the Army of the Potomac in particular:
Men you are the best of the best and I am proud to have been in this Army thoughout my stay here in the club. To the mighty AOP! HUZZAH!

General Golen,

Congratulations, sir. I'll join you in that second round. However, unless you are eager to get written up again by your CoA, you might want to update your signature [:D] !

Don, congratulations on your promotion. I see that Congress is finally getting around to accomplishing something for a change! Or is it just that they are running out of good quality material to promote? Seriously Don, you are a Great Asset to the ACWGC!

I believe that I will stay for a drink! Is anyone going to serve the Rebel Commandant a fine Mint Julip?
