Sherman's Advance on Atlanta:
Confederate Surrender Turn 17 of 145

Fighting under the consumate skill of the formidable Federal Lt General Dowling, the Invading forces move to a swift & uncounterable advantage, compelling the Defending Commander, from motives of mercy towards his brave & intrepid soldiers, to yield.

Early as it may be in the contest, time-wise, it would have proved impossible to withdraw in any order or cohesion into Atlanta's inner defensive ring in a way that would've allowed any real defensive stand due to the more advanced Federal penetrations already accomplished & the current advanced placement of large segment of the Defending Army.

Incredible further casualties would inevitably accompanied any such attempt to win a race already lost. The huge number of Confederate Cavalry strength points sacrificed to buy what time was gained, significant numbers of their Artillery, likewise already lost beyond any hope of recovery, in conjuction with the tactical disposition of the Defending Army as already described & the absolute absence of any reserve or reinforcments have sealed the issue's outcome.

My sincere & Heartfelt compliments upon a well-played game & Congratulations, likewise, upon Lt General Dowling's well-deserved & well-earned Major Victory.

As there are no Union challengers for the Overall's Creek scenario, I am willing to switch to the Nashville scenario, as there is a Union challenger and no Reb player

Sir,

I am sorry to inform you that our Army was routed in the battle of Nashville after a short but doomed defense. The Yankee invaders were to numerous for our valliant soldiers.

Sir,

At the same time, I will try to redeem myself at the Battle of Overall's Creek and I hope my opponent, Lt Col Killeen will do the same so I can exact my bloody revenge upon him.

Sir,

I will respond positively to Col Welleman's direct challenge and battle him at Overall's Creek. It will give me great pleasure to pick up where I last left off versus this able rebel tactician.

Respectfully Submitted,

Sir,

Greatly outnumbering the enemy in infantry and cavalry alike, his resistance was useless and we had an easy major victory at Overall's Creek.

I am happy to report that the Union successfully defended their supplies at CA 119 Allatoona, resulting in a Major victory for Big Blue. Rebs fought well but we had very good ground.

Only 4 scenarios to be completed.

Sevens Pines may be canceled, the time limit is over and no result so far.

Jonesboro could be a major Union victory as MG Burns is MIA.

Sir:

I would like to report that the CSA was able to pull out a Minor Victory at Sunshine Church. We faced a very talent leader on the Union side - John Nash. I wish him the best in the future battles.

Long live the South.

"Any people, anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable and most sacred right - a right which we hope and believe is to liberate the world. Nor is this right confined to cases in which the whole people of an existing government may choose to exercise it. Any portion of such people, that can may revolutionize and make their own of so many of the territory as they inhabit."
