You might have a bad install. Use the ADD/REMOVE in the comtrol panel to uninstall the game. Then go to the folder: C:/PROGRAM FILES/HPS SIMULATIONS and delete any files still in the C:/PROGRAM FILES/HPS SIMULATIONS/CAMPAIGN GETTYSBURG folder and any subfolders. (IF you change the default location of the files, then go to that location.) Then delete the game folder with the subfolders (maybe not necessary to delete the folders, but it is cleaner).
Next install the game using THE TYPICAL OPTION. Once it is installed, try to play a game. Save that game, leave the program and start it back up again and try another scenario.
If that doesn't work, make sure you have enough memory and HD space to run the program.
