Sir, I have been looking for an opponent to experiment with a house rule regarding stack firing. What I propose is that stacks of unit cannot fire together but individually. It is my hope that in doing so more defensive fire will trigger. The hope is that this will make defending more even. What I am seeing in currently is that the attacker will move a stack adjacent to a defending stack which may trigger one of the defenders to fire. Then the entire attacking stack will fire and the defender again will return fire with one unit. So we are consistantly getting results where the offensive player will hit 10 to 30 or even more defenders and the defender hits under 10. It is my hope that each unit that fire will give the defender the possibility of returning fire. This should work more like the Napoleonic games where only the top line unit of a stack can fire. If you are open to try this I would meet you on the field of you choice, game of you choice.
