Officers of the CSA Sirs! <salute>

116-640505 Wild_A1
[H] The Battle of the Wilderness--0700 5 May [+AI]
Campaign Wilderness, starting at 0700 hours, 5 May. The Confederate 2nd and 3rd corps are driving east on the Orange Turnpike and the Plank Road, respectively, aiming to engage the Union forces as deep in the Wilderness as possible. On the Union side, the Fifth Corps is halting its march toward Parker's Store and turning to face the threat to its right flank. Behind the Fifth, other units are bumping to a halt as Grant and Meade formulate a response. The Second Corps, originally assigned to hit the south flank of the old Mine Run fortifications of the previous autumn, is about to turn north to preserve its communication with the rest of the Army of the Potomac.

My proposal.
We flip command of forces.
Me = CSA, you, the Union.

There has been a lot of discussion on this battle, and I agree with most of it.
Historically I think the designers did a good job of presenting the problem Lee faced, (under the parameters that the computer simulation allows).
Also I agree that it is a very difficult battle for the Rebs to win, or even draw.

Still, having come close to disaster as the Union in these woods, I do not believe it is impossible and have been working on the A-K strategy which I think could work.

Thus:
All optional rules on except MDF and Artillery Capture.
No infantry column melee except from town, bridge, and/or ford hexside.
No night offensive action, (offensive fire and/or melee), though I am open to discussion on this last point.

Sir,

General Korotho, I would be happy to accept your proposal of switching side for a Wilderness battle. All of your terms and house rules will be fine as well. If you wish to engage, please send a response to: dgoode@yellowsprings.com. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,
