Gents,
This is a bit of a tall order, but if you don't ask, you don't get.
The Peninsula Campaign has always fascinated me - To the Gates of Richmond is classic Sears & had me hooked. This early in the war, both sides have large and relatively poor quality regiments, often under indifferent commanders. Clearly the stakes were massive, which adds to the drama.
I would like to get a 5 vs 5 MP game of the Seven Days underway, specifically scenario 08b which does not allow breastworks to be built in the game. The reason is that I think if there is at least the theoretical prospect of success in attacking enemy fieldworks, a more interesting game there will be. Why 5 vs 5? Simply to add friction - the Seven Days was beset by command issues (no names, no pack drill, Stonewall...) & a few more people might replicate that. I will say though, that everyone who joins in has to make a commitment to keep the game moving, whether by playing themselves or by letting their team captain do it. We should aim for at least two completed turns a week.
I don't mind whether Yankees play as Rebs or vice versa - in fact, it might be fun to mix things up a little. If you're interested, please email me
tom.carlingtonne@googlemail.com & we can talk. I'll also pick up any posts here. I know this will take a little time to get off the ground, so my estimated start date (if anyone is interested) would be 15 March.
Thank you all!
