John has taken wartime correspondence of residents of Warren County PA and turned it into an excellent novel following the exploits of several members of the 111th Pennsylvania. Not only do we see their lives as soldiers but also how their absence was felt on the home front. It took me a few pages to get into the style but once I did I found it hard to stop each evening to go to bed. If I had been younger or on vacation I'm sure I would have finished it in one or two evenings. I'd highly recommend this novel to our club members. As for me I'm going to be sure to watch out for the 111th Pa. and take special care of them in my gaming from now on. For anyone who has a Kindle I can loan this book out once for a two week period.
