That line from the classic film Shane comes right before the final gunfight in Grafton's bar. Wilson, of course, was chillingly and ruthlessly played by Jack Palance. But he was not actually identified by that name in the film's opening credits! Can you tell me the name that was used?

Walter Jack Palance is correct, a name he also went by two years before, 1950, when he appeared in the Halls of Motezuma. Palance was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Jack Wilson, the hired gunfighter from Cheyenne. But much of the character's film presence was due to director George Stevens's intriguing, mesmerizing and unusual scene composition and transitions.

An unusual, maybe even off-topic, posting for this forum? I'll direct you to Pat Carrol's old posting regarding this film as an allegorical tale of the Confederacy! (See http://wargame.ch/board/acwgc/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=16658&p=85738&hilit=Shane#p85738).

And of course there is another movie, much more recent, a kind of remake of Shane. Anybody know of it?
