About 18 months ago Col Hawkins (ANV Retired) put together some sound mods, these are background battle sounds, like gun fire etc. Also the mods add in more sound detail when units fire. The Col did a damn fine job <salute>, I wish he would return to the colours :( The sound files are 5M and 22M respectively so are to big to up load to our web site. Has anyone got any idea how I can give people access to these? I have tired to send them but they max out peoples e-mail, I know it took me a few weeks to get them, but I am not sure how I did it. :?

Some options:

(1) A file compression utility - like WinZip or 7-Zip

File compression saves mores space for some files (spreadsheets, word docs) and saves less space for others (picture files). I have no idea how much compression you could gain on a sound file.

(2) Break Up The Sound Files into Smaller Packets

Combine similar sound files into categories, save each category of sounds in its own folder for each, then zip the folder.

(3) Expand the space available on the site -or- Find space somewhere else and designate it for the site

My WordPress blog has 13.3 MB of memory available. WordPress is free. Open a WordPress blog - call it whatever - then upload the files to it, then provide the link on the Mason-Dixon.

Hope these ideas help.

<salute!>

From reading this maybe Dropbox or Hightail. Looks like several services can do large transfers for free.

I have sent the 5meg file to Joe, so anyone else wants a copy just e-mail me. I am working on getting the larger one in a drop box.

Gen. McOmish sent it over and it works like a charm. I highly recommend this mod, the battle noises sound very realistic. Wish I could thank Col. Hawkins for his work.
