When I attempt to download the V1.01 patch, it asks me for a serial #. I am typing in the only numbers I have on the CD which is a SH0496CD1, but the site says invalid serial # and wont alllow me to download the patches. Has anyone ever had this problem before?

Did you buy it from Matrix or is it the orginal Talon Soft version?

How about some more info:

Operating System: XP, Win7 or 8?
Where are you trying to get the download from?
I do not think there is a Talonsoft site, any longer.

I am currently running Windows XP HE, SP2. I am trying to get the update files from the links within the UMA. For some reason, my BG Chickagauga upgraded just fine and I have been able to utilize that game in my refresher training with Deano. That being said, at the end of our 12 turns, I got an error and was never able to send a completed file to Deano at the end of the scenario. I am NOT a computer savvy guy and it has been darn near 15 years since I played these games, so whatever knoweldge I had about PBEM set up has been lost. I thank you for your assistance.

I could NOT find that bookmark, although I had booked it several times!! :?

Please remember to install the ORIGINAL updates, then install the TILLER 32 bit upgrades for each game.

Chickamauga was done in 32 bit, so there is BG-Chickamauga Windows 2000 & XP Patch, in ADDITION to the V1.00 patch. V1.00 update first, then the other one, BUT no other patches for it.

As for the latest file of Chickamauga being messed up, try BOTH players deleting the PBEMail.xxx and .YYY files and then trying the game, again.

Also, make sure you are both on the same version.

Another point is that the MATRIX (updated) should work perfectly well playing someone with the Original Talonsoft editions, updated.

The site mentioned above, by Cam, has excellent instructions.

Ok, more clarification:

When you FIRST try to load game from the CD, you are asked for a serial number?

I do not remember having to use a serial number,, but it has been a LONG time since I installed those versions. BUT, playing around, I did get my original Talonsoft (upgraded to Tillers 32 bit) to actually play in WIN7.

My BEST advice would be to spend about $40. and buy the MATRIX version and forget the OLD Talonsoft ones.

Thank you for the advice. I cannot believe my 20 year old games will not play....<read sarcasm>. I will look into the Matrix games and see what I can find. Hopefully, there are downloadable?

They are downloadable:
http://www.matrixgames.com/products/319 ... .Civil.War

If you are into the Napoleon era games, it is available, also, with some discount for buying both.

Remember to download the updates, also.
