Gentlemen General D.W. Mallory, Army of the Mississippi, has retired. Since 2001 he has done much for both the Confederacy and the Club, serving two years as the Chief of the Armies and two years as the Club President. He has a total of 13 years’ service, numerous CSA awards and a very respectable win loss record. On behalf of our great Confederacy and our club I wish to thank him for his fine service. I have advised Gen Mallory that at any time should he wish to return to the colours he need only send a dispatch and a command would be his.

<Salute>

Now gentlemen the bar is open, lets do it until it hurts :mrgreen:

Say it isn't so!

This is most saddening news as General Mallory commanded much respect through the contributions he made to this club. Of course we know that everyone, including ourselves, will someday be leaving this club, but it is always a surprise and shock when one whose name is so well known and remembered turns in his spurs. I can only state that it has been a privilege to have made something of his acquaintance and to have known him as a member of the club. I wish him well in any and all future endeavors he undertakes and hope that he may eventually find a way back into active service with us.

<SALUTE>

Very sorry to see DW retiring. :( :(

I served for several years with him in the cabinet.

Good Luck, DW! The light will be on for you.

I first met David Mallory in 2006. He and his wife Carol came to my home town, then McComb, MS. Carol had been to McComb a year earlier to help out with hurricane Katrina victims, who had evacuated. They were a lovely couple and we spent a very enjoyable evening together. Later that year Carol, David, John Dragan, Derald Riggs, Ned Simms, and I went to Shiloh and engaged a tour guide (park ranger) at the battlefield. It was a great time there and the next day all of us but Ned went to Corinth, MS for that parks exhibits.

David and I played a few games together (I think we split). He became President and a great one too. I fully supported him as President and salute him for his wonderful skill in his efforts to enhance the Club. I personally will miss him in our organization and wish him and Carol nothing but great times and happiness.

David your good nature and influence on this club will last well past your retirement and while I'm saddened at you're leaving, I'm glad to have had the opportunity to work with you in the cabinet and having spent some time 'taking on the yanks' at several Tiller Cons.

You will be missed my friend.

Very sad to see you retire DW! :( You were an excellent leader in the Club at all levels and I always enjoyed chatting with you about things over the years. You were a steady hand of leadership and that is very much appreciated by many! I echo what Bob says, that your influence will go on long after your retirement.

I also always enjoyed working with you at the command levels and thanks for all your support over the years too.

Don't be a stranger and come back every now and then to have some drinks with us!! :D

I am saddened by the news. Fair winds and following seas. You will be missed
