Guys,
I have been working on a project for a while now and enough of it is ready to give you a taster.
I have put up on the Old Banshee site images of 3D maps for Antietam these files are available to download from the Updates section under Other downloads of the John Tiller website.

http://johntillersoftware.com/Updates.html

The images can be viewed at the link below.

Enjoy

They are pretty although the height differences are sometimes hard to see, especially the backsides that go over into the lower terrain behind it without any transition.

You can use them with the HPS version. Just one word of caution, do not apply the update mentioned on the article about Frank's maps (the one where it was talking about alignment corrections) -as applying a JTS update to an HPS version will mess up your HPS version.

Using the contour lines helps

Just turn the Hex grid and Contour lines on as normal they show up on top of the image.

I had no hexlines as well, running my HPS version. Could it be possible that JTS games can see the hexlines and the HPS cannot? It does appear as though JTS is ahead as far as updates are concerned.

Hi Dale, I get the same thing running HPS - and what you wrote is probably exactly what is happening. That being said -whenever they run an update for the HPS version next, it should fix this.

It probably has to be which order things are drawn by the programming itself, so that would have been out of the artists' control.

Yep we had some new patches in August 2014 for the CW series, unfortunately Antietam wasn't part of it but hopefully we see it soon.

True, however the way JTS has been going about the NB updates by introducing the same graphics packages between HPS and JTS versions in that series indicates (to me anyway) that there was a different standard to how the updates were being implemented.

That same process had yet to flow through to the other series; while I don't know anything specific -I would expect the same to eventually happen to all of the series in due course.

On the other hand, there have been some issues with the HPS Jena update that are requiring a little work (well maybe a little work), and Rich's message board is being move to another host (which may have a wider purpose within the context of JTS -or it might just involve moving) -this has not yet been completed (and it is not an area where I have direct role) -so there are a couple of areas that are taking some time.

Lots going on there, it just doesn't maybe outwardly look like it.

Yea and often it goes unnoticed, JTS has release an update for Antietam a week ago, I expect the HPS version will not take long to show up.
