Hello Gentlemen

It has been years since I have posted on the board and I have since ported over to the Apple-Mac environment. Thank God, that I did. I would NEVER go back to the Windows environment again.

I still have my 'backup' windows computer but it more or less sits forlorn and not in use unless I want to fire up an HPS game.

I noticed a software emulator called "Parallels" that apparently will allow you to run the HPS games on an iMac. Does anybody here have experience with it?

At present, I see a day when I would abandon all HPS titles if they don't work on an iMac. Regrettable, but it's not worth staying in the Windows environment.

Any suggestions? I DO NOT WANT to go to a 'dual boot' system on the iMac and 'parallels' seems to indicate that this is not necessary.

Any information appreciated,

Sincerely,

Gilbert Collins
Ottawa, Ontario

General Collins <Salute>;
Suh, I concur with your thoughts on Mac vs. Windows. But beware!!! When your Mac is functioning as a Windows machine it is susceptible to all of the viral creatures lurking in the either. Make certain all virus protection is up to date and functioning properly. Even "straight-shooters" who never visit questionable sites have been infected by other sources.

Thanks Allan but I don't intend to use the iMac to surf the web in any connection with playing the HPS games.

What I am asking about is this software called "Parallels". Apparently it will allow the games to be played on an iMac but NOT with a dual boot. Thus, when I finish playing an HPS game (if it works) I merely go back to the iMac 100% environment.

So far nobody has answers this enquiry which does not bode well for me ever purchasing it. Of course the companies web site only gives the faintest details and of course claim that it does work.

But, I would like some testimonials from people who use it. What better place than here? If nobody here replies I suspect that this software has not sold in large numbers.

Thanks for the reply and advice.

Gilbert Collins

I have purchased

for the same reasons you are considering it. Unfortunately after doing so my tech advisor (a person in the business of site design and repair) advised strongly against its use. The reasoning behind that advise was that even though a Windows program is running independently of the Mac OS, it is still housed in the same box and shares resources. As such my advisor claims the Mac is open to attack by those who would do no good. I now use my PC for CW adventures and the Mac for all else.
