The ACWGC is the Club it is because of the efforts and dedication of a small group of members such as Ernie Sands (DOR and Club President) Scott Ludwig (CSA CoA and ACWGC webmaster). Please join me in a salute also to these men and while doing so, consider whether you would be willing to follow behind them to keep this Club running as we have become accustomed to.

My very best regards,

I can't think of anyone who deserves this award more than Gen. Meyer.
I've known Joe for 14 years and IMO he has done more for the Union Army and the ACWGC than anyone I've known in the 21 years I've been associated with the club.
I could spend a lot of time listing his accomplishments but I will keep it to just this.
To the best of my knowledge Joe is the only club member who has served in a command position in four different Union Armies.
He commanded three of them in addition to his time as Union CoA and his service as CoS to both the CoA and the CO of the AotT.

To the new members now trying to continue the work of Joe and others like him I offer my thanks.

<salute>

Well-deserved honor for General Meyer. Only wish we could do more to recognize all that Joe has done over the years to make our Club the premier ACW gaming site. <SALUTE!>

This is beyond a doubt a very well deserved award. Joe is a great friend and has been a tireless worker and voice for the Club. I spoke to him about 2 weeks ago and he was in a great deal of pain but told me was able to rest and sleep much better.

This award is the highest which can be bestowed on an ACWGC member. If there existed a higher award for service to the club, he would have earned it. General Meyer's contributions are obvious to anyone who visits the UMG site and pages or who have been the recipient of his regular communications during his tenure of so many leadership slots. That's all aside from the individual attention, help and friendship he has given so many.

General Meyer <Salute!>,

A most well deserved honor! I echo all the other sentiments posted here! We can't thank you enough Joe for all you have done, for so many years, for the club! You have given the best example of what a dedicated member and leader can be.

You are truly the Compass of the Club!

Wishing you the best and a speedy recovery!

I have asked Drinkin' & Fightin' General Cam McOmish & the Boozy Mountain Boys to play us "Battle Cry Of Freedom" in your honor! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyJEbCBCylQ

I spoke to Joe on Saturday and he continues to feel and rest better. He is very appreciative of this award.
