It's simple.--For each game, create a folder on your HD that has exactly the same name as the main game folder on the CD ("BGS" for Shiloh, "Campaign Corinth" for Corinth, &c.). Into that folder copy the main game executable (BGS.EXE for Shiloh, CPO.EXE for Corinth, &c.). Now copy all those folders onto an empty CD. That's all.

I seem to recall something about setting your CDROM drive to operate from the same disk regardless of what cd drive ( I have 2 ) you installed from ...

Here's instructions on how to make a single cd that will allow you to play all your games from it.

The way I have done it follows. I have 30 games on one disk and it is only taking up 230 MB. Basically there's room for every Tiller title that will be coming out for years to come.

Create a Working directory on your hard drive.
Drag and drop all of your game folders into it.
Make sure each game folder is named Exactly the way it is shows on the cd (Caps, abbreviations, spacing, etc.)
Go into each folder and delete all .bmp .doc .hlp .wav files.
(I have left the sub-directories in place, but I'm not convinced you need them.)
Then burn your cd. Make sure all the game folders are at the root of the CD, don't grab the working directory with them inside of it, as that won't work.

I keep the working folder in tact once I am done, that way when a new game comes out I just have to repeat the process for that one title and I can burn a new cd.

It's wonderful not to have to swap CD's anymore!!

Actually, it does work for Talonsoft titles. I've used a single CD to play four of the five (not Chickamauga). You just need to create a CD with a directory of each game, say BGG, BGS, BGN, BGBR, and place the two executables (ex. BG_start.exe, BGS.exe) in the directory for each.

It works for the BG games but for some reason not the HPS games.

I have 2 cd drives ( g and h ). I installed some of them using G and some using H.

There is a file I can edit to set the drive number, but I cannot remember the file name.

What the heck - I will just mention that for those on dial up like me I found it very handy to fill some the rest of the "one CD" with a complete Cartography Office download, all the extra HPS scns & files, and a few other handy tidbits.

A site downloader like Offline Explorer or Webcopier allows whole sites to be downloaded in one go, and then the single CD means all your playing needs at a mouse clic - has proved very handy.[:)]

The BG games used an INI file, like BGG.INI that had the CDROM in it. That is the drive that was chacked. However, you can edit those INI files to change the drive, if you need to.

For the HPS games, there is no INI file. So, you can simply copy that single CDROM and place it in BOTH drives and it has to work.

I don't mean to sound dense but

When I install ga,mes I tend to not use teh default directory that is suggested. Reason being is I like all my game son one drive away from other stuff.

if my directory is

F:\CIVIWAR\CORINTH for campaign corinth then what should go on the master disk I am creating ?

1 - The exact same info that is on my hard drive

2 - The exact same thing that is on my Corinth install CD from HPS ?

Make up a folder on F: called TEMP. COPY the CORINTH folder to the TEMP folder, then delete the files mentioned, below. You do the same for all game folders no matter where they are. So, you will end up with a structure like this :

F:/TEMP/CORINTH
F:/TEMP/GETTYSBURG
F:/TEMP/GAME
F:/TEMP/GAME, etc.

Each of these folders have all the files that are mentioned below, deleted.

Then you make a CDROM with ONLY these new folders on it, including any BG games. So, your CDROM looks like:

g:/corinth
/gettysburg
/game
/game, etc.

This is not at all difficult and takes very little time to set up and burn the CD. Once you have the basic setup of the TEMP folder, you can add a new game in minutes.

John,

This one CD process workes for the HPS titles, as that's what I use for every game I play.

Here's the info on changing your drive letter value, but you have to go into the registry to do it:

Here are the steps:
1. Run regedit.
2. In the left-hand pane select HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HPS Simulations\Smolensk41\Install.
3. In the right-hand pane, double-click on cdrom.
4. Change the value according to this mapping:
c=2
d=3
e=4
f=5
etc.

These values are decimal values, not Hex, which is the default.

Regards,
Rich
