My wife asked me for a gift idea. I enjoy WWII PBEM games but would like to get involved in Civil War. What do you recommend for a first time Civil War experience?

Respectfully, Bo

I saw your post over at Blitz with the same question. You'll probably get more responses over here for Civil War. My thought would be HPS Gettysburg first and HPS Corinth as another option due to all the scenarios and patches available on the net. Check out some of the links with this club for player designs.

Bo,

I too would suggest Campaign Gettysburg for the sheer size of it. Ton's of content.

There's various places to buy it on the web, but you can always buy it direct from HPS as well - www.hpssims.com

Bo,

I agree, HPS Gettysburg - a must have game. I have HPS Corinth too and that is also excellent. It's worth looking on ebay for the old Talonsoft Battleground ACW games too. They are still used in this club, although they don't have the campaign dimension to them. I hope you enjoy whatever you get[:)]

Bo,

You may wish to purchase the TalonSoft AWC BG series of CDs from TalonSoft, Inc. Their web site is: http://www.talonsoft.com I bought all five of the ACW CDs for $9.95 each plus shipping which came to $56.45.

Sincerely,

Once you decide which game to get, stop back here and join up in one of the sides. Either side is excellent, but most REBS are real pushovers.[:p][}:)]

I agree:
1) Gettysburg
2) Corinth

Thanks for all the advice. Seems like HPS Gettysburg is the way to go. I found a copy at Amazon for 18.88 and passed the info along to my wife.

Even though I can't play yet, I'll go ahead and sign up. Rebels or Yankees? I'm thinking Confederates. By the end of the month, somebody will have the "honor" of kicking my rear.

Thanks again,
Bo

Yes, signing up with the CSA is definitely the way to go. If you went with the USA you would have found the opposition somewhat weak.

Welcome to the club.
