"In conjunction with HPS Simulations, D & B Publishing is proud to release prints of the main Gettysburg map from Campaign Gettysburg. Produced from Doug Strickler's detailed work, these laminated 24" by 36" maps, printed on heavy 100 pound glossy paper, will be an essential tool to the player for strategic planning and seeing the "big picture" as the battle unfolds. Every road, stream, town, and landmark is clearly visible. Get yours now!"

Gentlemen,

That is the gist of it. HPS has authorized me to sell copies of the Gettysburg Map from the Campaign Gettysburg game. I have worked hard to make sure this is something that HPS would be proud to present and that would be a useful tool to the gamers that play using this particular map. It comes laminated so you can write on it with an erasable marker and with the hexes visible so you can count distances. The price reflects the benefit of producing a large quantity of the maps. If you have checked the price of laminating alone, you will see that these maps, measuring 24" by 36", are well worth the price.

Check out the sales site and if you have any questions feel free to email me.

Gents,

I've got a copy and I love it. This is ideal for planning a battle, coordinating a multiplayer game, working out a scenario design, or just having a great piece of work to decorate your walls with. If you play the Campaign Gettysburg game from HPS this is a must have, IMHO.

Regards,
Rich

Got my map, yesterday! Looks great, Don. I have it posted on my wall, right near my chair.

It gives a great perspective for the battles.

BTW, excellent quality, very well done.

That will all depend on the kind of sales Don can get out of this. I imagine if he can at least offset his expenses he'll consider doing the other games. I'm not sure what that point is however.

Two comments. For those people that already have the map, All dry erase markers are not created equal! [:D] I have found that the Sanford EXPO2 Low Odor Dry Erase markers work the best on these maps.

As to producing other maps. As Rich said, we are testing the market with the Gettysburg map. The break even point is well above 100 maps to just get my money back. Neither HPS nor I will get rich off of these maps, that is for sure. It is more of a service to the club and hopefully I will make a little extra to pay for my time and effort. I would love to do the Nappy maps, too. I will just have to see how this goes first before commiting.

I haven't made it to the Pennsylvania portion of the campaign yet so if I'm interpreting you correctly, then I haven't seen the 'main Gettysburg map'. I'm assuming that it is the map where the biggest armies of the Campaign Gettysburg are designed to meet. What territory does it cover?

Those EXPO2 dry erase work well. If you use them in conjunction with a couple of colored grease pencils, which also wipe off, but are more permanent, then you have a good way to mark the more permanent lines, like defensive lines and temporary lines like enemy positions for the turn.

Ned,

Take a look at Scenario 007 Gettysburg. It uses the whole map. Also, if you have not seen the spreadsheet I did which lists every scenario, with every map, OOB, pdt, etc, you can download it from my web site. (See my signature below) It will be listed on the bottom of the page.

Thanks for this tip...I went up on the Staples site and found a Expo2 "kit" with 4 fine & 8 thik markers, and eraser & a bottle of cleaner. So I'm all set to do a ton of marking! [8D]

Another order is on its way. Hopefully I can give Commander Hamilton lots of opportunity to mark up his map with lots of southward rebel movement.

If you are taking votes for other efforts, Eckmuhl and Wagram would be my candidates.

As an aside for those who have the maps. Any chance they can be used for boardgames, such as Avalon Hill's "Here Comes the Rebels" series?
