Pope went out to Minnesota to command against the Sioux uprising there. I would have liked to have seen the looks on those Rebs faces after the got their butts kicked off of Missionary Ridge, a position they thought couldn't be taken. Or the look on the Union commanders faces as those boys made that charge that they hadn't really ordered.

Union Chief of the Army

How about Casey's Division at Seven Pines? McClellan picked his smallest, least trained, and sickest Division a half mile in front of everyone else and didn't seem to consider the possibility that this would pretty much invite the cautious Johnston to do his worst. Unfortunately for Casey and his boys, Johnston did.

No offense Gen. Nelms but the face of Braxton Bragg would be much funnier and interesting to watch in this one!! [:D]

Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg.

A huge win for the boys in blue and a collosal blunder for Lee.

No matter how many times I see this in the Gettysburg movie or read about it I cannot imagine what Lee was thinkng when he dreamed this up.

I would have liked to see the earth move at The Crater. Those Pennsylvania miners taught the regular army engineers something about tunnelling...

Regarding the first item on Bill's list -- Cedar Creek. The events two days before are also interesting:

17 October 1864 -- Sheridan arrives in Washington recommending most of the Army of the Shenandoah be sent to Grant, since the valley campaign was over!

Cedar Creek is considered by many historians as “second only to Gettysburg as the most glamorous Union victory of the Civil Warâ€

Oh to have been a fly on the wall or a flea in the bed, when Col. John Mosby (Va. Cavalry), strode into Fairfax Court House and roused Union General Edwin H. Stoughton from bed with a slap on the rear end! [:p]
