I have an idea-oh! oh![:)]

How about a multi-player game with a twist. Say you have three commanders to a side. Commander 1 Rebs does a complete turn and mails it to commander 1 of the opposing side, Then commander 1(yanks) does a complete turn but he sends it to commander 2 of the Rebs who mails his turn to Commander 2 yanks who mails it to commander 3 rebs and then to commander 3 yanks and back to 1 Rebs and so forth.

Now, you could allow comments or to furthur Fog of War no comments.Would this be an interesting experiment or am I missing an obvious flaw? Has this been tried? Comments?

I am wondering about communication. Would we allow a pre battle conference then let the fight unwind? No communication and each commander tries to figure out each others style and plan? Intermittant communication to re-evaluate the situation? Constant communication? Hmmm... suggestions?

I am interested.

Perhaps an added twist would be to have an umpire, but there would be no communication between the players AND the umpire sends the file AT RANDOM to the players. IOW, with say 3 players per side, the umpire (can be a player, also) gets a completed turn and sends the turn to the next side on a throw of the dice (or other method). Using a six sided die, a 1 or 2 would be player #1, etc.

Or another way would be a simple rotation. Once the rotation is established, it goes back and forth following the lineup. The turn is sent to all players, each time and the correct player plays and returns.

An interesting idea.

I'll throw in a couple of thoughts. Let's say you have three people per side and reb #1 starts it off, he then sends it to all 3 union players (to see the reply), but challenges one to do the turn (let's say he chalenges Yank #2). your have a little table in the email that identifies the number of challenges every one has seen (and you keep updating it with each turn). At this point it would be:

Reb 1 -- has 1 turn
Reb 2 -- has 0 turns
Reb 3 -- has 0 turns
Yank 1 -- has 0 turns
Yank 2 -- has 1 turns
Yank 3 -- has 0 turns

So after Yank #2 has done his turn he can send it back to all the rebs to see the reply and challenge eithter of the 2 rebs who have the lower numbers of previous turns (#2 or #3).

Tends to keep everyone involved since I think you are only 2 turns away from "being up", and your could get two in a row. As for communication I wouldn't restrict it.

Sounds like it could be fun.

Great ideas guys!! Tenetively its going down this way
1.It will be BGG 13h
2. Three players to a side
3. I will be the moderator and a non-player
4. There will be two supreme commanders
5.All turns come to me but with a twist, each leader sends me a priority list of who he WANTS the turn to go to. I go down the list and if your top priority hasnt had a turn he gets it but if he has the next highest priority guy gets it and so on.
6. The supreme commanders issue orders/suggestions each turn but another twist-each commander has only a 50% chance of getting them so two,one or neither commander gets them.
7. Each leader should do the turn on the day received or the next day and I will send them on the day I receive them,(with or without orders!!)

Still interested?

General Best,

Sure, I'm still in. Any ideas on how the supreme commander of each side will be selected? And will there be a chance for subordinate officers to send comments/suggestions 'up the chain' (still limited by the die roll as to whether or not the courier arrives, of course).

By the way, something else to consider for next time: I had an idea a while back for a similar game, but ALL players took all turns, then sent them to a moderator. The moderator selected one of the files at random and that one became the 'official' file of that side for that turn, and it was the one forwarded to all the players of the other turn.

This would add a bit more Fog of War (basically, each player would be issuing 'orders', but would never know if his exact orders were carried out or not). Also, new players could join the game at any time. In any given turn, there may be anywhere from 1 to 30 (or up!) files for the moderator to randomly select from.

In addition, the moderator would select from the files he had received within 24 (or 48) hours, so the game would keep moving no matter if one player slowed down (the bane of so many multi-player games). Someone could go on vacation and the game would just keep right on going without him until he returned.

Except, of course, for the poor moderator. Might have to make an exception when HE needs a break! [:D]

Michael and David will be two of the Rebs could you recruit a third for me?

David-AH as to thirty players-not this moderater! 8>)

However, due to increased Fog of War(you will miss a lot of the opponents moves) scouting reports/suggestions will move up the chain of command( with the same probability that He will receive them)

Supreme commanders will come from the first to volunteer otherwise chosen by random.

Ernie,Bob, John-drop me a line if you are on board
