Just hit the HPS site and saw that Franklin has a new patch out (1.04).

Here are the changes:

<i>Changes for Campaign Franklin 1.04
- Adjusted PDT files to reflect uniformity with the ACW series
concerning mounted cavalry disruption through woods and night
attack penalties.
- Adjusted several Nashville scns so that the city of Nashville
is worth Victory Points.</i>

Can I apply the patch now, or do I have to wait until I finish the game I'm in now so not to mess up the present game.

Sure, just make sure your opponent does the same. Or one players cav will disrupt and the other won't.
