Gentlemen,

I have been away some time now and I return without any idea of just where things are at present. I will not bore any of you with tales of my adventures, but hope to receive the kindness for which this place is so well known and to return here in some measure with my pride intact.

I have been listed as MIA, I am certain. And truth be told, after a brief review of the conversations here in this forum I am under the impression that the Battleground series are no longer played.

Would one of you kind gents take just a moment to share with this former defender of the South what games are currently being used to play out the conflict these days?

Hoping to be able to return to some measure of active duty, I remain, very truly yours, the former...

Capt. Weber,
Welcome Back [:D]

Actually, the Battleground games are still being played. There are some players who will play one, and some who will play the HPS. Also, there is no HPS equivalent to Shiloh, Antietam, Bull Run, or Chickamauga, so if you wish to play those battles, your only choice is the BG.

To wit, the club plays and supports all the BG games, and all the HPS games (Corinth, Ozark, Franklin, Gettysburg and Peninsula). If you have any of those games, I'm sure you'll be able to find opponants.

General McClellan, sir... *salutes*

Thank you very kindly for your information, sir. I will have a look at the HPS site and determine whether it makes sense for me to acquire the newer titles. In the meantime I will check to be sure that I have the older games ready to play.

Respects and warm regards,

Capt. Richard Weber

Captain Weber,

Welcome back, sir. The Talonsoft games used the same engine (or at least seemed like they did, to my non-technical way of thinking). The HPS games, likewise, all use the same engine, but not the same one as Talonsoft. The HPS games have been described as 'the next generation' of Civil War gaming.

Individual finances are always a consideration (I still don't own Penninsula Campaign, myself - yet!) but, if you're a serious CW gamer and you enjoy the Talonsoft series, I can assure you that it would make sense for you to acquire the newer titles eventually.

Again, welcome back. Please report to Colonel Scott Ludwig, current commander of the ANV, for re-assignment.

Your humble servant,
LGen 'Dee Dubya' Mallory

General Walter,

Yes, I can recall with some detail the terrible beating my boys took at your hand. Thank you for your kind welcome, sir. *salutes* I hope to have the chance to get reacquainted on the battlefield.
