In recognition of his 4 and a half years of service in leadership positions for the Army of the Shenandoah, it gives me the greatest honor to present the Outstanding Service Medal to Major General Mike Dean, USA.

Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!

Gentlemen,

Allow me to express my thanks to Gen Dean for his long service in command of 1st Division, VIII Corps and to the AoS. [:D]

Mike was the second commander of the division taking command in March 2002 when the division was just about a year old. He was only a bird colonel then and in addition to commanding the division for 4 1/2 years he has maintained the AoS Sharpshooter webpage as well as a webpage for the division itself. Mike has elected to return to brigade command where he will continue giving our rebel friends a hard time on the battlefield.

Thanks, Mike, for your service and friendship, and for hanging in longer than you really wanted to when needed. Glad to have you continue as a gaming partner.

Thanks General Laub, and thanks to all for the kind words. That sure is a shiny medal! It won't stay shiny for long though, as I will be devoting more time to battlefield duties from now on. But for now, let's drink! The next round is on me. [:D]
