Hi folks ... I'm told by a Matrix staffer that both bundles will be out by American Thanksgiving.

Nothing against them, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Regards, Conjotter.

Hey Notso ... This is posted on the Sept 27 Matrix newsletter which can be read on their website. Through the miracle of cut and paste you can enjoy their own words verbatim. And lighten up buddy.

``Speaking of insider information, since you read all the way to the bottom of the newsletter - we feel you deserve some intel you can't get anywhere else! We've got some pretty rad titles lined up for October. Right now, we're tentatively planning on releasing Harpoon: Commander's Edition, John Tiller's Battleground Civil War, and John Tiller's Battlegrounds of the Napoleonic Wars in the coming weeks. The two new John Tiller titles are compilation re-releases of the classic Civil War and Napoleonics hits. Battleground Civil War will include Battleground Antietam, Battleground Bull Run, Battleground Chickamauga, Battleground Gettysburg, and Battleground Shilo. For our Napoleonics history buffs, Battlegrounds of the Napoleonic Wars will include Napoleon in Russia, Prelude to Waterloo, Waterloo, and Age of Sail.

But hold on, we've got more good news for you. Battlegrounds of the Napoleonic Wars and Battleground Civil War will each be $24.99 in digital download form and $34.99 boxed form, but anyone who purchases both compilations will receive $10.00 off the combined price. Both the Civil War and Napoleonics titles will be available for $39.99 in digital download form and $59.99 in boxed copy form when they are ordered together."

I don't know exactly, but I may suppose that there will be a direct link from the "game menu" on the left of the game page:

Sirs . . . May I take it for granted that the main reason for purchasing this new release is so the old games will work on the Vista platform? This is important, as up until now I have resisted moving to Vista so I wouldn't lose the Talonsoft games I still enjoy playing.

Sincerely,

All,

From what I can tell all remains the same with the new Matrix edition. I recently went to Vista a few months ago so my old editions wouldn't work (had no choice. Fried computer so got new machine with Vista). One manual for all the games and a menu from which to access all 5 games are about the only difference I see. Seems to work fine on Vista. Will experiment more tonight. Probably fire up a PBEM to myself. (at least I might win that one. LOL)

<font face="Book Antiqua"><font size="4"><font color="limegreen">Gents,

Well it finally happened! Now I can't seem to recall whether these Matrix games will be compatable with the old BG games? Dale, what path did the Matrix games take in your hard drive?

Respectfully,

Nick,

They installed to C:\Matrix Games\John Tiller's Battleground Civil War\Gettysburg (Antietam, etc).

There is a minor issue in that some scenarios aren't visible in the opening menu (but can be accessed via the BGN.exe or BGBR.exe file. See the Matrix forum about this). This happened with Antietam and Bull Run. I imagine it will be fixed soon.

If you care to test out whether the new edition is compatible with the old just fire off a file to me (dalelast4@juno.com)

Hello at all,

A question about theses new version. The Matrix forum doesn't work by me at time.

When you buy it by download :

- can you chose to install only one of games (ex. only Gettysburg)or you must install all games

- after the installation do you know if we can patch them in 32 bits ?

Thanks a lot and sorry for my English

Best Regards from Switerzerland

Patrick,

When I installed the games it installed all of them. Each of them went to its own folder. I guess if you don't want a particular game you could delete that games particular folder (same holds true for all those space consuming video files).

Also, there is no need to apply 32 bit patches. The new games are already 32 bits.
