Brett is most likely too shy to post this, but I enjoy his blog a bunch and he has mentioned the demo for this game.

I will have to give it a try, and his Scourge of War Blog is outstanding.

I am not a fan of real time at all, BUT I suspect this will be by far the best real time effort ever......

The Youtube preview shows an excellent visual experience.

http://www.youtube.com/user/NorbSoftDev several Youtube videos

The site says that it is due to be released in March 2010 which is almost over.
But on their website:

Someone must have downloaded the demos by now.
Can individual players be limited on scrolling around the battlefield to implement "fog of war" and do units run low or out of ammo? I saw no supply wagons on the Youtube video.
I did see the black hats of the Iron Brigade.

Cruces,

Thanks for posting! I will add that the full version of the game is now available for purchase:

http://www.scourgeofwar.com/purchase.html

I'm not sure if Scourge of War Gettysburg works well for the ACWGC as a real-time game, but I'd encourage you guys to consider it. I did the majority of the OOB research for the game, including armament, unit strengths, and unit and leader skill levels. Some of the last were changed a bit during the scenario creation process to ensure a good experience by gamers.

In any event, check out the demo. If this game doesn't remind you of Sid Meier's Gettysburg, I'd be surprised. Plus, it is unlimited MULTIPLAYER. Imagine a three vs. three game or a six vs. the computer game. I LOVE that feature! Let me know how you guys like the game.

Ross,

Individuals are limited in their ability to scroll based on difficulty level. The harder you set the game, the less "leash" you are allowed from the commander you play. Units do run low on ammo and must get it replenished by the ammo wagons (99.9% sure on this). The Iron Brigade is represented, and a few famous Zouave uniforms were used to represent all of the Zouave regiments in action at Gettysburg.

I downloaded it too and will have to play it more to get used to the orders. I think there should be more commands like" about-face".Although I could line my regiments behind walls after a few tries, I found out they were facing the wrong way![:0]It took some time to wheel them around.

There is an about face command, in the combat menu.

I like it. Actually alot. Really nice gfx. The map, the units...took me a while to figure the movement out, but now I have it down, and I'm about ready to move on to the full game and maybe try on a division.

yeah I finally found it under combat movement and actually got the Rebs to run when I charged them in the flank. Then I tried a frontal assault and got to see my boys run.[:D]

I always thought it was mostly "Charge to the rear men!!!!" (Popular among New England officers). Of course there is the western verion (Originated by Iowa officers or so they say) "Run Away!!! Run Away!!!"......

Ok, you caught me[:I].......I was trying to give those Western yankees credit for originality, BUT.....you are correct.....They did actually imitate it from their favorite literary work that they could comprehend......I'm am quite sure they might have used the New England style command had they been able to verbalize longer, more complex sentences.......
