From an undisclosed field HQ location, General Laub presented General Drexel Ringbloom the Distinguished Service Order Medal

Image

The award was presented at the behest of General Ringbloom's CO, General Rusty Hodgkiss. The AotS commander wrote:

"General Laub,

I would like to recommend for the Distinguished Sevice Order, General Drexel Ringbloom. General Ringbloom serves as a division commander in VIII Corps, and has been serving in that capacity for at least 2 years. He also is the AotS Chief of Staff, as well as the officer who takes care of the website. During our transition from ACWGC.org, General Ringbloom singlehandedly moved the AotS site to it's new location, and he does all of this without ever a murmur, or expectation of any recognition. He is an invaluable officer to me personally, and to the Union cause in general. I cannot recommend him strongly enough for this honor. He is truly what the administration of this club needs, and is about.

Lt. General Hodgkiss
AotS, Commanding"

General Laub was heard to tell his aide in passing that he "just wanted to give the award to a guy named Drexel."

Hearty congrats to you, General Ringbloom, and our sincerest thanks for all that you do to help our Army and this Club!

HERE! HERE! No, that's right, Bartender because General Thompson said that he was buying the first 3 rounds so HERE is the place to be. Just pour mine all at once, if you wouldn't mind. I'd like to toast this Drexel correctly. To the Active One! Whether it be battlefield or papercut wounds, the DSOM has been heartily earned.

Congrats General Ringbloom. It's an honor sir! Now...I say put 'em all on General Thompson's tab! He's loaded...and so shall we all be! Yank and Reb alike...now where was General McO's sister?...I feel like dancin'.

I tell you, I'm ready to go out tomorrow and go to smashing things.

It is with humility and a hangover (from all the tavern raiding I've been doing) that I receive this award from my commanding officers. I will continue to try to be a good member and Union officer in whatever capacity I serve in the AotS. The Army of the Shenandoah has no equal and its officers can fight and drink with the best in the club. Thank you Gentlemen and Rebs for your kind words.

Drex well done and all that, but get back to the AoG Tavern your beer is getting warm and I can't pause the big screen much longer as the locals are getting feisty [:D][8D]

Congratulations, Drex! I think the real reason they gave you this thing is for sucking up all that Reb beer in the Eastern Theater while General Weir was gone!
