Sir,

While reviewing my troops in our new forward position, I was hit in the chest. The bullet (Cancer?) has lodged it self in my right lung. I will fight on until the surgeons can remove it, on Friday, the 26 of November. Have Col. Carl Winzer of the first Brigade take command of the 2nd Division, Until I can return. I expect to be in the field hospital for four days. I do not know how long before I can get back in the saddle. I will get back to all my find opponents then. I should then have a lot of time on my hands, unless the wife puts me to painting walls and sanding floors[:D].

Gentlemen,

The Surgeons have successfully removed the bullet (Turned out to be a Fungus instead of Cancer, recovery will be shorter as a result) Will be back in the saddle tomorrow (or maybe I can fight from one of those carrage things, Like Ewell at Gettysburg). Thank you one and all for your well wishes and prayers...... and LTG L. G. Bertolino after I finish my game of Corinth with John McQue, I will see you on the field... Sir
