General Walter,

"Konteradmiral Graf von Walter"??

Gesundheit, sir. Or, as a friend of mine used to say, "You do it and you'll clean it up!"

Seriously, thanks for the information. Are the naval games turn-based, or real-time? Are they suitable for pbem? With the Confederate Secretary of the Navy being named Mallory, I've always felt a special kinship with that branch. (But don't mention that to my Dad -- He's retired USAF, and just doesn't understand my fascination with water [:D]!)

Your humble servant,
LGen 'Dee Dubya' Mallory

The games are real time. They can't be PBEMed, but they are more than suitable for playing online. A typical game will take 60-90 minutes, with occasional bigger games.

If you ever played the original Age of Sail, then it's a considerably refined version of that system (though you don't manually fire guns, and the turns are "free", you don't have this 45degree jump in turns, your ships turn realistically)

Hi Chaps!

Firstly - I wanna state that I know diddley about the programming etc. enda things.

But recently - stemming from an interest in the CS Hunley . . I have been reading about various "Naval" engagements during the ACW.

With the presences of Gunboats in BG Shiloh and HPS Ozark and possibly elsewhere, that I haven't encountered yet - it struck me that surely there is scope for a Game - based on the "Turn" system AND PBEM friendly, encompassing the Blockade, The Hunley, Hampton Roads and the Monitors class and the various "River Campaigns" - the Vicksburg engagements come to mind here![:)]

Would it be possible? Feasable and in your opinions would it be popular?

Just a thought and a musing! [:D]

BTW . . .Dave your Paw prob'bly fears letting you near the water AND fro that matter inta the Air! He jest wants to keep Yer feets on Terra Firma! [:p]

Pat.
