Anybody got a GB pdt file with some weather lines. Thinking of making a scenario, would like to make a modified pdt file with weather effects, but need to see how the weather lines are setup in this engine.

Thanks.

Gen Amos,

The weather for the 1-3 July 1863 would have little affect on the battle other than the effect of the heat/humidity on the troops.

If you're looking at doing a scenario for other dates you'll find a description of the weather lines and what they do at the ACWCO Engineering page under PDT Files Explained at

http://www.acwgc.org/ACWCO_Engineering/

I have also placed a link to the Engineering page at the ACWCO site.

You'll also find a downloadable zipfile there containing a text file that contains a set of pdt lines for varying the visibility range without affecting movement or combat and instruction for modifying it for different dates. If you have any questions after looking over this info I would be glad to try and answer them.

A number of the newer games have weather in them. Find one of their pdt files, locate the weather lines in them, cut and paste a few to the Gettysburg pdt file, then change the date/times they take affect. I haven't tried using the weather rules yet in a custom scenario but I plan too, at which time I can give some better directions. Antietam has some extensive ones in it.

I plan to use weather to limit LOS. I usually find weather where it affects movement and fire to severe and can unbalance a game.

Ken, Kennon,

Thanks.

I do plan on making some scenarios on the Gburg big map with the largest OOB I can find. I want weather in a pdt file to help change things up.

I'll see what updates are available at HPS to 'kipe' a pdt file from.

Very much like the Enginiering section, Ken, thanks.

Wonder what Gburg would've been like at Christmas, a snowy Christmas. hehehe...
