Cinch it up and hunker down, boys!

Everyone be patient with their opponents this weekend and next week if they are on the East Coast. Chances are some will be without power and may not be able to respond for an indefinate period.

The fact that the Hurricane is coming from the South and battering the Northeast is purely coincidence

The lack of rebs willing to fight makes Irene the only thing south of the mason=dixon with any punch to it.

We are on the high wind side (if the track holds), so we could get 75+ MPH winds and about 4+ inches of rain, here in the Boston area.

Ernie,

Looks like your neck of the woods is going to get more southern wind and water than you would ever want.
Seriously though keep hunkered down and stay safe!

Irene is going to be a very big event for a lot of folks on the east coast, I hope everyone comes through this alright and as Blake said don't expect to much contact from members in the path, power will probably be out for a lot of us for several days if not a week or two.

My Hurricane Party will be at Walmart working - what fun! People are buying water like there is no tomorrow.

Two great comments from last night...

Comment 1-

CUSTOMER: Your out of bottled water?! What am I supposed to do during the storm?!
EMPLOYEE: Open your window and hold a glass!

(I had to laugh at that one and walk away)

Comment 2 -

MY BOSS: We got in 5 pallets full of canning jars? What are we supposed to do with all those jars with a hurricane coming?
ME: Let's fill them with water from the drinking fountain, tell people it's spring water, and sell them.
MY BOSS: We'd sell out in 3 hours!

(We didnt do this though I still think we should have  )

Tonight should be another fun one!

Report from York, PA to the Maryland border on I-83 -

Nothing. A few downed tress but very little damage. No traffic. All power on and street lights working. Just a bunch of rain and wind.

Not too bad around here. A lot of rain, but only about 4" and some winds, but nothing like those further south.

Right now, the temp has dropped to the mid 60's and the wild is still steady, but fairly light.

As I unplugged all computers and stuff, I redid my cluster of wires and put in new surge protectors.

Also, set up my wife's new computer.

Now all my cables are (reasonably) laid out and everything worked fine upon plugging all back in a firing them up.

All-in-all, not a bad day.
