Gentlemen <salute>

A pet peeve (spelling?) of mine is MP battles where you don't hear from your opponents for 2 weeks or so.

How hard is it to send an email to your opponents that your turn is delayed because so-and-so is on vacation for a week?

How hard is it to arrange for one of your team members to make your moves for you because you're on vacation for a week?

I find it disrespectful to not hear from the opposing commander for an extended period and having to email asking for the status of the file, only to be told that "real life" interfered, or "Joe Schmuck" was out on business, or whatever.

I try to inform my opponents when we will be delayed, and expect the same courtesy. I work full-time as well as carrying a full college class load, yet manage to get files turned around OR send the opposing commander an email that I am having difficulty.

We are all understanding if we are informed. Keep your opponent informed the same as you'd expect to be.

Neal is dead on-I have played him in the past and his moves were timely. However, he has dodged me lately :|

Well said General Hebert!

It's always frustrating but the worst for me was a 4 on 4 MP game where one of our guys business traveled from time to time (4 or 5 times a year) and simply refused to let us know when this was going to happen despite repeated requests to do so. So seven guys sit around for a week because one player simply refused to let another do his turn.

General Elkin <salute>

Suh, my compliments! I wouldn't so much say that I'm dodging you as I'm stretched from pillar to post with my current games. I understand that the commanders are planning another "Western Thunder" type tournament, and I'd be happy to reserve a spot against you for when the time comes.

Suh, yes. I am Cajun! Most of my ancestors are Acadians exiled from what is now Nova Scotia in 1755 or 1758.

I think that is true for MP games and 1v1.

In most instances, I try to keep up with MP games and tournaments.

In my 1v1 games, I am very slow, lately and I have informed my opponents of this.

In MP games, it is critical to have teammates cover for your absences.

I have been in a couple of MP games (both here and in other clubs) that have faltered due to missing players. It is not always easy to find a replacement. It is IMPORTANT to keep in mind the time and effort put into MP games (and all games) by players. It is very disheartening (winning or losing) to have players just disappear.
