I just got my stationary computer up and running again after a move. However, many of my HPS games are now running very slow and they never have been before. And when using my laptop they run fine, and that system has far less specs than my stationary does. The only thing I can think of is that it happend after I updated the games, since there had been new versions out since I last had my stationary running. The new versions work fine with my laptop though.

The "slowness" shows itself by everything being slow. When I click somewhere it takes about 1 ½ to 2 seconds before the game catches it. For an example, if I click on a unit, its information won't come up immediately as it usually does, instead it takes a second or two. Same thing when I scroll the map, it runs very slow, and when I issue orders etc.

Could it have to do with my graphic drivers?

Some of my HPS games that I haven't updated run fine.

I have exactly the same issue with the latest patches of some of the HPS/Tiller games, but not with the games running older patches. It is very annoying. However, I found a workaround. If I go into Control Panel | Display | Settings Tab | Advanced | Troubleshoot Tab, then take the Hardware Acceleration slider down one notch, click Apply, then slide it back up to Full, and click Apply again, the game responds as it should. The game has to be open while I do this, so I do it just before I click to view the replay. It drives me crazy that I have to do this every time I open the game, but otherwise the game would be too sluggish to be playable.

I am using an ATI Radeon HD 5570 1024 MB DDR3 graphics card. I have discussed this with HPS support so they are aware of the problem.

Interesting, thank you very much for your reply. I also have a card from the HD5xxx series. I am going to try and install an earlier version of the ATI drivers (I just recently updated them and it could most certainly have to do with them). I will let you know if that did anything.

Ernie, Antony said he had informed them already so hopefully they might be looking into it.

I see that now. I have an NVIDIA card and have similar problems.

I tried uninstalling my graphics driver but even when it was uninstalled it ran slow, perhaps not as slow as before but still a very distinct difference from when they ran like normal. I tried installing an earlier driver version but the problem remained.

Having exactly the same problem. Also NVidia driver. Latest patches bog down games on desktop, which has an aftermarket video/graphics card installed, but not laptop with factory standard graphics driver. Anxiously awaiting HPS intervention in matter.

Seems then like it hasn't just to do with ATI cards, but also Nvidia.

I emailed HPS Support as well, but after their first reply to update my graphic-card drivers to which I replied I had, I have heard nothing.

HPS Support says that they don't know a solution and that everything is working fine on their end. So unfortunatly no solution. We can only hope that they will continue to look into this.

I hate to be the downer - oh, the heck I don't, I'm eating it up - but I'm going to take a guess that HPS does not own a computer with an ATI or Nvidia card and I would doubt that they will go out and buy one. The other possibility is that they do own a computer with an ATI or Nvidia card and they are not experiencing the same problem. Either way means that I wouldn't hold my breath for a solution from HPS. There is another way in that you could funnel all kinds of cash in my direction and I could check it out. You still wouldn't get a solution since I don't know jack turkey about it but I would be richer for it. At least one of us would be happy!

Conveniently, just purchased a new desktop for the home office with rockin' integrated graphics driver and a load of RAM so the wife can "work from home" as she likes to tell the boss. Let's see whether baby fixes the problem. My guess is 'yes'.

Not necessarily. I have a new computer (6 months) with high end graphics (2Gb video) and 12 GB of RAM.

Still have problems, white out, speed, etc

Yes, it has nothing to do with the system not being powerful enough. This is something else. I am not saying it has nothing to do with any computer part, but it's certainly not about the cream in it.

Exactly. The problem exists on EVERY JT and HPS title. Some are worse than others, but all have similar problems.
