Does anyone know what the option Trench Values (menu View) does ? I don't see a difference when I switch it on.

Hi,

You can build trenches, but it is different than breastworks.

Your unit must be mounted cavalry or infantry in column. When you tell them to entrench, they start adding to a base value that can be found in the parameter data.

A number is added to that value every turn depending on how many men in the hex are entrenching.

When the combined numbers equal 100, you have a trench. The trench value, when selected, will show you how many trench points have been built. (not including the base value.)

The pdt displays a number which has to be reached before a trench is built. Generally, 30 in a 30 min turn pdt or 45 in a 20 min turn pdt. Number of men divided by 100, for example 700 men = 7 so it would take 5 turns in a 30 min game or 7 turns in a 20 min game to build a trench. Each turn you can find out how the diggers are progressing. The sample pdt (demo Overland 3 pdt) gives information on what the numbers mean in a pdt. The demo itself is actually non-functional)
