Is there a standard set of optional rules the club recommends as a default setting. Or is it everyman for himself. Of course once the game starts your both playing by the same rules but in a close game I can see how some of these optional rules could effect the balance of play enough to determine the outcome.

That is a tough topic, as it has to do with people's style of play, their idea of what is important to them in a game and also what viewpoint they are coming from. See my emails, but we can all have an open discussion here, always a healthy thing to do... :)

The HELP files do a good job of describing the optional rules.

If you have not read them, then you should look them over.

Also, I bet if you do a search in the TAVERN, you will find older discussions about optional rules.

As someone brand new to the club I am interested in learning the correct protocols and becoming part of the community. A thorough read of the HELP files description of the optional rules and the past discussions regarding the optional rules in the Colonial Tavern is what gave me an enhanced respect for the impact of the optional rules and actually prompted my question.

I think I understand more clearly that there is no policy on club play default settings for the optional rules but rather, within suggested parameters, it is the responsibility of the individuals to determine their own preferences with a goal toward mutual agreement prior to gameplay. Fair enough and Will do.

No shortcuts. Darn, now I gotta do my own homework........

Logan,

Per my email I just sent, I am sorry we forgot to go over some of the finer/sometimes more basic points in the games/series. We don't often get a raw recruit to any HPS series with us. Usually of the three clubs at Wargame.ch we are often the last folks will join, having experience in the HPS concepts from the other series, where some of the basic concepts & theories applies to all the series/games. I think we will have to address this a bit better in the future. :)
