I've been to Chalmette before, not this trip. Not much left of the original field, which is the case of many of this era, but worth the visit if you are in the area....Hurricane or no Hurricane(the drink)

Add on to this thread. Best Battlefield visit you made. "Best" is up to you, your best, does not have to be F&IW, 1812 or Amrev

Antietam is the only one I have actually toured properly and it was memorable on account of it being a gathering of ACWGC members in Hagerstown from as far away as Indianapolis (I was living in Richmond at the time). To have 'virtual' comrades materialize so that one could actually meet them face to face was a priceless experience.

That would be a good visit. I went to Antietam once, but I was rushed, I was on my way to Gettysburg, but since it was in the neighborhood.
There are many, all of them good to me, but most memorable would be a full day at Gettysburg, started walking the field just before sunrise on a misty morning, could not see that great to start, statues eerily becoming discernible as I began my walk.....The day could only be described as spiritual.

I had forgotten that, I believe the previous year, Nick Kunz, Larry Quick and Russ Something (who's name eludes me), all then-ACWGC members, came down to Richmond and we toured what was left of the Seven Days battlefields and then rode northward to tour Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, The Wilderness and Spotsylvania Courthouse. The combined casualties in that small area was astounding to contemplate and certainly led to the feeling of Hallowed Ground.

Never got to meet any club members on a field tour, that would be cool, I did meet some at an HPS convention in Nashville. I met Ernie, Rich Hamilton and others, Bill Peters I think. WWOne museum would be a good place for a multi club meeting. Central US, easy to get to etc,
