Its been a long time but I am ready to get more active in the various online wargame club. So, I am here to look for a French opponent for any game/scenario. I have most, if not all, of the hps titles. Also I would prefer someone who could do at least 3 turns a week. Thanks

Sir,

A hearty welcome back to the Fields of Glory! I am pleased to accept your challenge. I have all of the HPS/John Tiller games (except Lutzen). I prefer scenarios with 15 minute turns. Do you have a favorite battle?

Belligerently yours,
Col. Bill Reaves

Sir,
Perhaps you would agree to meet upon the fields of (HPS) Jena/Auerstaedt. I will send a courier with the details.

Hey Gents...speaking of 10 or 15 minute turns...is there a list somewhere that specifies which games are which time frame? :?:

I don't recall a specific list. I believe there are both 10 and 15 minute turns in Austerlitz, Leipzig, 1814, and Bautzen as these are the newer titles. Most of the rest only have 15 minute turns.

iMHO, the 10 minute turn scenarios are superior because the shorter turns tend to somewhat mitigate the bias towards the attacker.

All I remember is playing a 10 minute version of Jena a while ago...we were on turn 200+, yes-200+, and our main forces had yet to engage each other...10 minute turns make for tons of clicking and a VERY slow moving game...

Our games greatly favor the Attacker. 15 minute turn scenarios may be great for marching around a map, but our battles are won or lost in combat. The longer the turn, the more advatage you give an Attacker to do damage before the Defender gets to respond.

In the end, it comes down to personal preference, but I am reasonably certain that the two most formidable French Marechals agree with me on this point.

I think most scenarios I've played show the turn length in the Scenario Notes. Both the 10 and 15 minute turns have their merits. I've enjoyed many fine games with both, and will happily play with either.
