looking for British opponent ready to test house rule privileging fire over melee

proposed scenario:
[157]Talavera - 27-28th July 1809
or [92]Bussaco - 27 September 1810

house rules
disorganized unit could never engage melee
organized unit must stop melee process if disorganized by defending fire.

organized infantry/cavalry could always melee skirmisher/wagon/officer/artillery
limitation: skirmisher could only be engage by one hex
artillery could be engage by any hex but attacker must start in contiguous hex

infantry in Line could never engage melee vs infantry
exception Line could engage infantry by rear

infantry in column could engage melee
limitation :
over open terrain, only one hexe could engage melee.
more than one unit cold engage melee but they must start move in the same hex
over other terrain, melee could be initiate from contiguous hexe if they sart movement from contiguous hex

skirmisher could only engage melee vs artillery/skirmisher/wagon/officer/artillery
skirmisher could only melee from different hex if they start movement in contiguous hex.
skirmisher from different hex could not regroup in one hex for melee purpose.

cavalry could charge from contiguous hexe if they start movement from contiguous hex or in the same hexe.
cavalry are free to initiate any melee after the first one.

an officer must always be in the starting hex of one of the attacker or in a contiguous hex and must end his move with one attacker or in a contiguous hex
no routed unit must be in the same hex as the officer, otherwise officer could not be in charge of melee.

no more than 3 Skirmishers by hex.
disorganized Skirmishers not in cover and not with line/column must retreat if in contact with opposite unit

disorganized unit could not be moved at top
Disorganized unit could not move closser than 3 hexes of enemy, unless there is friendly unit in a front hex

Just let me throw in some points to consider:
- disorganized unit are heavily penalized in melee(attacks 1/3 of normal Attacking Strength)
- infantry in Line is also penalized in melee(doesn't get the +25% Attacking Strength if attacking in line instead of column)
- that skirmisher regroup in one hex for melee purpose is not unhistorical I think there are some examples where that happened, just look here http://napoleonistyka.atspace.com/infan ... kirmishers under "Large skirmish formations"
- regarding cavalry officers, one must consider what officers are depicted, if only brigade officers are depicted it's rather harsh to force them to always lead a charge

you are right, but in some case they could have some opportunity, specially again ai ...

I don't think the example are again 3 skirmishers in a hex.
most of the case are in wood, and the wood was not only one hex

no could be any officer from the same organization

After some battles I have made some simplification.

still looking for opponent any from Eckmuhl,Bautzen, leipzig or Waterloo.

Disorganized unit could never engage melee
Organized unit must stop melee process if disorganized by defending fire.

Organized infantry/cavalry could melee skirmisher/wagon/officer/artillery

Infantry in Line could only engage melee vs infantry by rear

Infantry in column and Cavalry could engage melee

Skirmisher could only engage melee vs artillery/skirmisher/wagon/officer/artillery

Only unit of the same brigade could engage melee vs one hex.
No regroupment could be done during movement.
All unit must be with a leader of the same organisation or in a adjacent hex at the beginning ot the turn.
Leader must follow at least one attacking unit or end in an adjacent hex

Cavalry are free to initiate any melee after the first one.

No routed unit must be in the same hex of the leader, otherwise the leader could not initiate melee
