I have received your scenario and sent the first turn. May you have some good luck, you
will need it to overcome the handicap of noble blood, thin as it is, you may feint!

Hopefully I left nothing behind in my "new digs" at the front. It was a hasty trip back to headquarters and muster with my tipsy Russian conscripts. At least we won't feel the discomfort of foul weather and some may not even feel the musket ball that hits them! Where, in the Lord's name, do they get that stuff to drink?

But we are on the march, a very long march. Reports from the front say some French have been observed. Hopefully me and the lads can hang back awhile, getting used to this whole war thing....

Musket fire has been exchanged! Thank God there were no French cannons about. The near miss of several musket balls has caused me to soil my trousers and throw up my breakfast! Who's idea was it to send the Russians in first!!!! I thought the Prussians were the real fighters here.

So far a tad more French than Coalition have met a timely end. Though I fear I am stretching myself thin in this first thrust of the sword. These must have been poorly paid Frenchmen as the "cleansing " of their belongings has yielded little.

Time will tell, relief troops are marching forward as fast as possible.

Hostilities have seized, the storm clouds have parted, and flowers are springing up in the fields where brave soldiers once marched, fought, and died. The fighting was fierce, having to march into the muzzles of canon that were unapproachable because of the many rivers present. I was going to use an air strike but the French are still hoarding all the hot air balloons.

An allied minor victory was obtained. My worthy opponent fought bravely and smartly. Well done Erin!

I think you mean ceased.
Deceased maybe, given the body count.

Well done to both you and your worthy opponent.

Now of course, when I was your age and rank - pull up a chair and mine's a bottle of white zinfandel - and I'll tell you what it were like in my day. Guns were bigger back then .....balls of British steel....bayonets sharper than the wife's tongue.....rats the size of dogs....dogs the size of barmaids...
