I'm still getting up to speed with the newer version of the John Tiller game. If anyone has the JT Battleground Napoleonic Campaigns, I'd like to play Prelude to Waterloo, 03 The Battle of Quatre Bras scenario as the French. I can play 3-4 turns/week. I want to use all options rules except for line movement restrictions.

I have the Matrix version of those games. PTW is version 2.0 .....I don't know if anyone else has, they are a bit old now.

I think the latest Matrix version is 2.01. :frenchdrunk:

I am NOT sure of compatibility.

I do not know iff= Andy took up the gauntlet, but I can play the bad guys, if no other takers.

I have the JT game from Matrix Games. The last update was in 2008, v1.04. If there have been others, I can't find them.

Hi Ernie

If you could take up the gauntlet that would be grand. I'm delighted to hear others still have those games although version numbers seem a bit confusing.

The updates Mr. Sands gave a link to appear to be for a different campaign series. If that's not the case, and it applies to the Napoleonic Battleground series, I'll use that. Otherwise, I just have v1.04.

I've started looking at the Campaign Waterloo game. I understand there are better maps available. How to install them?

You are NOW talking about JTS Campaign Waterloo?? There are 3D maps available, but if you do not play in 3D, they are extraneous.

Do you have the old TALONSOFT BG version and NOT the MATRIX update? The version number (1.04) SEEMS to relate to Talonsoft NOT MATRIX.

I obtained JT Battleground Napoleonic from Matrix Games. The last update on their website is June 2008, v1.01. I have updated to v1.04. the John Tiller Campaign updates at other places on the site refer only to WWII type games.

Because these are older version of the same game, it's confusing. If anyone has the Battleground series, I'd like to play a scenario with them. Once I'm comfortable with the newer version I'll start using that.

I think 1.01 may refer to the download version for the whole package.

Go to the PTW game and go to About and see the version number for the actual game. Mine is 2.0. Ernie somehow has 2.01.

My Matrix version of BG Waterloo, Prelude and NIR is 2.01 dated 2008. The OLD TALONSOFT versions (BG SERIES) tend to run in the 1.xx area. (Both Nappy and Civil War)

Chronologically, we have BG games by TALONSOFT; John Tillers BG series by MATRIX; campaign Waterloo (ETC) by Tiller through HPS and the CURRENT games Campaign Waterloo (ETC), updated by John Tiller Software. (I think I am right lol)

So, we need to make sure we are talking apples to apples and not apples to oranges. :frenchdrunk: :frenchvive1:

Ok. I will play the French (of course). The scenario is 03 The Battle of Quatre Bras. All optional rules except line movement restriction.

I can do 3-4 turns per week. We are in the same time zone until Daylight Savings Time ends. After that, I'm one hour ahead of you.

I'll send you the first file Friday afternoon or evening.

A while back I had tried to provide some data to another BG player and I also didn't look through what is cookie with the patch versions for Talonsoft respectively Matrix.
So if someone is able to compile clear informations & links so that we can make sure that all the BG players are on the same patch level for the Talonsoft respectively Matrix releases it would be really welcome.
