Hello all!

After settling in with his regiment the Infanterie-Regiment Marquis Chasteler de Courcelles Nr. 46 newly minted Fähnrich/Ensign Kareil is looking for his first real game. I'm an avid military history fan my main reason for joining the club is to find similar minded people who look for authentic experiences of the old battles. My goal is to play through the whole period so I'd like to start with RBR.

Valmy would be my first choice and from the descriptions I think "004_Valmy_FB-V2_HTH.scn" sounds most interesting:
Quote:
004. The Battle of Valmy: Meeting Engagement
20 September 1792 - Variant - Intended to be played Head to Head - The French are late to block the Allies. Only a small Advance Guard brigade of approximately 2000 men of Kellerman's Armee de Centre is available to delay the advance elements of the Prussian Advance Guard until more French reinforcements can arrive. Control of the main road and hilltop objectives is vital for the Prussians. Dumouriez's army arrives in the north. Should they march south or continue on the main road and then attack the Allied flank? The Allies are working against time in this battle.

Optional rules suggestions are pretty much the latest default rules:
+ Victory Points for Leader Casualties
+ Isolation Rules
+ Melee Terrain Modifiers
+ Column Pass Through Fire
+ Target Density Modifier
+ No Retreat Overruns
+ Movement Threat Disorder
+ Weak Zone-Of-Control
+ Line Movement Restrictions
+ Flank Morale Modifier
+ Multiply Cavalry Melees
+ No Opportunity Fire Against Skirmishers
+ No Melee Eliminations
+ No Detached Melee

Some additional house rules taken from what I've seen here:
+ Melee restrictions for infantry: From a hex conquered in Melee it is not allowed to again melee. Other units may move into and through the conquered hex but they are not allowed to melee.
+ Skirmishers should stay within 2-3 hexes of the parent unit. I think for Light infantry bataillons they should stay within 10 hexes to allow them to screen bigger formations.

Goal is to get authentic battles but as I'm not that experienced the rules are open to discussion. The house rules I think are pretty common here although the wording is mine.

I'm a very reliable opponent with a normal turn rate of 1-2 turns per week.
