Gentlemen

I would recommend the Adrian Goldsworthy Series at four books at present.

A cross between Patrick O'Brian and Jane Austin. Very well written and researched. Don't expect Bernard Cornwell the first book doesn't see the main characters land in Portugal until page 200.

For all that they are a truly enjoyable read

Finished the first two that takes us to the death of Moore got the next two on Kindle and looking forward to them. They are well researched and I have certainly learned a little more about the basic operation of the British Army during the Peninsular.

I have most of his books about Rome 10-11 and they are all a great read.
I'm looking towards Caesars civil wars from him ,most of the others I have.
To have him making a novel was a little strange and about Napoleonic time
also ,but a great opportunity for us here.
Hopefully he will write something about the Napoleonic wars (non fictional) also ;o)
