I am getting to the point were reading actual books is becoming more difficult.

I use an ipad pro to read books like mysteries and science fiction.

Was wondering wh here uses a kindle, or some other E-reader, for booms covering our period?

My main concern is not the actual text but maps and plates.

From what I see the modern file formats for ebooks like EPUB are so that anything else but text is depicted in very low quality, maps & pictures a rather useless in them. I have very few of those ebooks, much more are in the PDF format as that is very good at compressing text and graphics into a good size while still keeping the quality high.
So I recommend to go for a PDF file instead of anything else unless you have plain text file books.

Usually I use pdf- but I do have one Kindle title that I have bought. I use a Galaxy 3 tablet -and haven't had any problem taking screenshots of the maps.

I ought to add that I bought this title, in part, due to the maps (and I also had it in print) - so I guess in part too I bought it so that I did not have to lug the book to work.

Technically I am only using the Kindly app and not a Kindle device.

I highly recommend that folks buy all four works that John Gill did for the 1809 campaign. He put out 3 vols. on the history of the campaign and then there is "With Eagles to Glory" about the German Allies. All four of these books show up very well in Kindle. The maps are excellent (for a change).

I have other e-books as well on the Napoleonic Wars that are easy to read on PC or Android. Dont have time to post a list but its nice not having to lug books around. My room doesn't have the best lighting either so an e-book is nice. (Note: I dont read much these days - design work uses up my "eye credits" as it is ;))
