I just got done with https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/17834 ... bl_vppi_i2 on Quatre Bras and was wondering what was good out there for Ligny. I know the author has a book on Ligny/Wavre, but I was wondering if there were any other things as well. Field pulls together a great number of orders and statements from people in the battle, but that can be a bit forest for trees as well.

Had to laugh at myself Gary as that Quatre Bras book sounded very interesting so looked it up for Kindle and it's been sitting in my library for several years already. I've got to quit collecting Kindle books!

It's worth reading, and the verbatim quotes of the various orders are interesting an enlightening. Still, like I said, it can lose the forest for the trees at times. Certainly does a good job with the debate on d'Erlon's wanderings over the map.

Uffindel's Eagles Last Triumph is great.
https://www.amazon.com/Eagles-Last-Triu ... e+of+ligny

I also liked Peter Hofschroer's
Waterloo 1815: Quatre Bras and Ligny
https://www.amazon.com/Waterloo-1815-Qu ... 039&sr=1-9

Ligny was a hotly contested battle and altough it is tough for the Prussians do to their open flanks, unit quality, and the raw amount of French cavalry, and artillery, it is one of my favorite scenarios. I am currently in turn 7 vs Pat Mossier.

Thanks much Jim. The Uffindel book looks like what I was looking for. I'll poke at Hofschrorer too, though I hear he tends to be pretty one sided in his judgement, so it's nice to have other points of view to compare.

Uffindel is a great storyteller and the maps are nice etc.
Hofschrorer was more fair than I had anticipated but it has been a while since I read that one
