Post subject: My Favorite French Unit
PostPosted: Wed Nov 09, 2011 11:18 am
I just love these guys! It is so nice that someone finally rendered a proper unit for La Grande Armee. I think I will start calling them Le Grenadier de Recul.

I could probably even eek out a Draw against Colin if he had an army of these fine, French troops!

Gentlemen,

How are you able to acquire a HPS 'Info Box' picture, like you show above, and say put it in a signature or Avatar? Thanks!

It takes a few steps, Fred. There are probably a lot of ways to do it, but for me:

1. I go into my game, get what I want on the screen and the hit 'Print Screen'.
2. Open a Word document and Paste the image into it.
3. Print the Word document to a PDF format.
4. Import the PDF file in Corel Draw.
5. Crop the image to what I want.
6. Export the file to a JPEG format.
7. Upload the JPEG image into my Photobucket album.
8. Start a new topic in the Rhine Tavern and insert the link to the image in my Photobucket album inside my post.

It takes several steps, but none of them are really complicated.

Yes they certainly aren't in any order I know of. Is the picture from a game? If so, I would question the game's accuracy if they miss such a basic as showing good formations in their graphics.

The individual soldiers are exquisit, however.

Well, yes, in fact, these Line Infantry are quietly sneaking up on some poor Coalition forces on an early fall morning in 1807... The reason I have this picture is for the individual Soldier, its graphically appeasing. As for formation....

Haha! This shot was taken from NTW (Napoleon: Total War).

Bill,

I think you will enjoy NTW, especially if you liked MTW II. Though, for some reason, I always end up spending the majority of my time, right here with HPS Nappy, Thanks for your hard work with the Series!!

Bill,

I was reading a few posts over on the MACGC board and it mentioned you will/would be starting work for Slitherine Ltd for something Napoleonic. Aside from Fields of Glory, should we be suspecting something from you and Slitherine Ltd. sometime in the near futute?
I still play CNAW (Commander: Napoleon At War) and continue to fully enjoy it. I currently am PBEMing a mirror game(s) of the Gand Campaign.

My favourite French unit is the 8x8pdr guard horse artillery in HPS Austerlitz and elsewhere.
Just deadly. You look at the field and say - what if got those 3 batteries into position there.....

Yes, even I must admit that to be a very good unit. As I recall, I even unloaded it into the face of your advancing infantry at Austerlitz with devastating effect.........right before you eviscerated me.

No, any French unit having a Morale of "F" for France is by far my favorite as I am invariably playing against them.

This is still all up in the air. They have a project that will work on the MAC and iPAD. I have neither but the editor works on a PC. So far Keith is swamped with work on the latest FoG module: Decline & Fall (I added in three battles to that one) and nothing more was discussed.

I hope to discuss this with him again. It is not what you think: a PC game. They want to branch out a bit I think. Not sure of the scale of the game either. And once I go to work on it I could not say. You would just have to read their website. Mum's the word in other words.
