Bill

I know your mother would have been especially proud of your work on the RSW scenarios. My Mom was also a huge sports fan, especially the Toronto Blue Jays and Montreal Canadiens.

Take care, Bill

Dear gentlemen, let me add my dime too. :sly:
The Bautzen's RSW scenarios - just great!
They take and do not set you free till the very end of process, so they "cutthroat" and unpredictable are .
I put a target for myself: to taste each of them. 1/4 is done already. And believe me, all of them were played up to the last turn.

Bill, I guess, your mom had really blessed you with her love for the work.
I take off my bicorn.

Mom lived to see Bautzen (and RSW scenarios) but she never saw the Metz '44 module for Battle Academy finished. By the time "Fortress Metz" came out she was gone for about 8 mos.

She did get to see the early work on Marengo. The Battle of Marengo was top on my list to get finished and tested. She remembered the days when I played at the Cal State Northridge gaming club on Friday nights. SPI's Nap at War Quad was my fav. in those days. Marengo my fav. folio game in the pack.

I contacted JT support about map notations and I thought I would mention it here.

I noticed the same issues on the Leipzig maps.

"Allied Cavalry fight with Cuirassiers"

"2nd Position of the french defense"

"Cossacks outflanked his position here"

and on and on..........these notation really detract from a beautiful map.

while I am on my rant..........I wish the note mentioning fords are for infantry and Cavalry only would be removed.

It also detracts from a beautiful map.

Removing notes that were purely for design is fine, but notes like the use of fords for specific unit types have to be kept. The engine doesn't care about the unit type and so artillery and other stuff can also move over such fords too but that was not what the scenario designer wanted and so it's fine to kept them.

What you stated is not true.

The engine does know and will not let artillery and supply wagons cross fords.

The note on the map is purely a mnemonic device.

Anyone who has played these games knows that artillery and supply units cannot cross fords and having that notation is needless clutter.

If that is so, why do Russian artillery & supply wagons cross the ford at 83,78 in the Löwenberg scenario in the Leipzig game?

Interesting.............the fords on the Leipzig map will not let you cross.

I guess it depends on the map...............Katzbach will let you cross also.

I would hope the next update will have a more subtle notation........maybe 2/3 the text size.

AFAIk the path is used to make a ford on a water hex. if that is correct I know why there is a difference.
In the Löwenberg scenario path costs 4 points for artillery and supply wagons while in Leipzig the cost a 0. 0 usually means it can cross or use that terrain.
