Maybe pierred could add something about the load that signature graphics especially such large ones would cause.

Something like that Bill but not that large :)

Yes, I would downsize it to be similar to mine. I will post a few samples and you just tell me what size fits best.

I post the images up on "Tinypic.com" but the person with the signature would really want to control their own image or maybe we could store them on the club server and then let the member have the link address to their image.

Its not a lot of work. If you guys want to provide me with the images I can work with those too. In other words: I can find a few images to work with but I am not going to go hunting down everyone's fav. regiment picture. ;) :frenchroll:

Here is one I did for Joe Meighan who joined the club this year.

(updated image .. using .png image types now as they are clearer)

Revised version of Andrew Moss' signature - smaller with Wellington's portrait in a frame:

So I would be willing to set up templates for the members - HQ would send me the image location on the web that they want to use for the template or just email me the file (nothing over 1 MB please) and then I would need the exact text that they want on their signature page. I wont research their unit affiliation for them.

I could probably generate 20 of these a week easily OR just supply you guys with templates you could use. The latter would be my preference.

Adding the text onto the image is easy. A mix of images - the regiment uniform pic + battlefield image in the back - seems to be a nice mix. I probably will redo my signature eventually. I am still looking for a much better image for my regiment. The old Knotel images are a good starting point but lack the ole luster of the portraits/professional images that are out there.

While individual pictures are fine I think these can always be done by the members themselves and put into the board as avatar.
I think templates would be best as to give some uniformity for the French side. I would recommend one template each for:
- Line
- Light
- Hussar
- Chasseure
- Dragoon
- Cuirassiers
- Foot artillery
- Horse artillery
Add to this a font that fits in the era and it will be much less work of producing or changing such signature pictures.

Interesting idea...

For more uniformity a frame using the standard infantry dark blue & white would be something to consider so even very different arms like infantry and cavalry are recognizable as being from the same side.

I will start with the French army. Do you actually have artillery units?

I can work in some images of the French infantry, cavalry .. wont do artillery unless you need it.

Old Guard ... etc. Easy to find the units images online.

I will work on the line units first. They are more numerous in your army.

John - reminder: I need to know which format of signature image you want me to use. The one for Andy Moss or the one I did for Joe Meighan in the Prussian army.
