Fellow Officers,
Could anyone offer some good reading on the Brunswickers of the Napoleonic period. I have the Osprey books but have been challenged to find much else.
Thank you,

Hi Jeff - the best sources to read are in German. If you can read German you are in luck!

The sources in this Wiki article are worth checking out:

Here is one of the source works in German:

I have had to do a lot of reading in the German books for the research on the games. For the current game a book on the Hanoverians was very rewarding.

Ultimately that is what you have to do with most things "German" in the Napoleonic Wars.

Yes, I dont speak German at all but I now understand some German because I applied myself to it. With Google Translator entire passages can be translated into a readable English text. In order to get the best rendering of the German units you really have to eventually learn German or know someone who can read German who can help. Most of the English language books only go so deep ...

If you can get your hands on a copy of Bill Rawkins book on the Black Brunswickers that will help. That book is listed as one of his titles he is going to eventually reprint. Keep your eye out for it here:

His books are packed with good information. I have over 10 of them in E-Book form.

Good luck on your hunt.
