Thanks Bill!

Ed Blackburn and I are at turn 238 (Not quite half way) of the modified Four Nations scenario we spoke about several months ago. The Prussians have yet to engage but with nightfall only a few hours off on day three they should be ready to throw their weight into the fray on day four. The French have tried to wipe out the Russians and the Austrians but a stiff resistance and some timely counterattacks seem to have stalled their plans - but another fresh French corps is approaching. This scenario could go either way and will likely play much differently when Ed and I switch sides for the next match.

Happy Belated Birthday Jeff!

That sounds like an awesome battle with Ed! Is it a scenario you could share with other members?

Sure Scott, if anyone would want to take on this massive scenario. The only change made to the scenario was to move the Russian 1st Army out of Naumburg and further east along the pike to Leipzig and some minor changes to French light cavalry positions.

The scenario, as originally designed, allowed for the French I Corps to bottle up most of the Russians in Naumburg while awaiting reinforcements to finish the job. The Saale River plays a major role in the scenario as it separates the Prussians from the Russians and Austrians. In our scenario there was little action on the first two days except for maneuver where the French corps moved eastward across the Saale, destroying all the bridges except in the south and defending them with artillery. On the second day the Russians and Austrians crossed the Elster River at Zeitz and marched south to Gera. At Gera, on the third day, is where the major action has occurred with the Austrians and Russians crossing back across the Elster. The Prussians, denied a crossing at Jena, marched all the way to Rudolstadt and Saalfeld to cross the Saale which is why they are yet to arrive.

The Allies must achieve 12,000 points for a minor victory.

Yes, if you haven't played the Jena game in a while you would need the map to follow along. You would probably need the map anyway as the villages discussed would rarely, if ever, be the site of any fighting.

Ed and I also played the Moravia campaign on the Austerlitz game a couple times, switching sides. Another great scenario if you like the larger and longer games - 250 turns.
