Our glorious leader, Herr Scott "Oldfartpants" Ludwig has returned from his recon trip to New Zealand and has located a fine structure for us to use for a hunting lodge! I have been ordered to go to New Zealand as soon as possible to take residence there and set up the advance hunting party list. As I never disobey orders I will be moving my HQ there post haste!

Ok ok - so I am not moving to New Zealand but Scott's email reminded me that its on my "Bucket List" and he sent me pictures of a couple of Napoleonic paintings he saw in a museum. Glad you had a good trip, Scott, and welcome back!

Now for some bad news ;)

It would appear that TinyPic has gone out of business. PhotoBucket is available but runs $8 per mo.

Question: can the club host our Profile images? If so please direct me to the individual who can post my image. Much thanks in advance. :)

In the meantime I will drop back to just having a text format club signature.

Haha, thanks Bill! :frenchlol:  It has been decided that its too warm in New Zealand, so we'll be keeping just one location of the hunting lodge in East Prussia, with our special advance unit of von Peter's Freikorps in a place called Bois de Boise (not sure where that is) :P :D

Bill is right though, we did travel to New Zealand & Australia. While we were in Sydney, we got the chance to go to the Art Gallery of New South Wales where we saw Édouard Detaille's "Vive L'Empereur!". What was neat is in the lower right there is the art piece by Basile Lemeunier, "Portrait of Édouard Detaille" and is of Detaille painting Vive L'Empereur. I also found out that the gallery bought Lemeunier's painting in 2014, despite having owned Detaille's since 1893. My wife thought it was great to be able to see the different pieces together in the same museum, something you don't often see. Plus it is of the artist painting what you see next to you and isn't your traditional portrait of the artist. We looked at some of the details in Lemeunier's painting, as she's heard me talk about Napoleonic uniforms in the past, so it was neat to see them "in" Detaille's studio through Lemeunier's painting.

Below are two images of the paintings and I'll have more to share later!

Lovely paintings. And yes, that is in Australia, not New Zealand where you saw those.
